Re: Rest of the season?

I think the plaque came before he joined the board ( he was then chairman of the FA). This will be covered in the new book but the idea was to use his contacts to help the club and a new business plan was written around that time. Nothing came of it though.

Re: Rest of the season?

His previous stay was only for one year. Not sure it ended in tears exactly. No reason was given publicly for him deciding to step down.

Re: Rest of the season?

He is going at the end of the season. Clearly would be useful to have on the board if both parties were interested but timing may be an issue. Leaving under something of a cloud I would say.

Ollie Bayliss reporting that Brian Barwick may be stepping down as NL chairman. Token sacrifice or first of many?

Re: Rest of the season?

Maybe no bias in the decision but completely tin-eared when it came to decision to fine clubs. Someone is going to say, it’s a dangerous precedent if you don’t fine clubs for refusing to play. But you have to look at the circumstances which were definitely not of their own making and genuinely put c...

Re: Rest of the season?

The NL has now handed out fines to the clubs who refused to play (Dover £40,000!) and given them suspended points deductions for next season. As you can imagine this is like pouring petrol on a lit fire and clubs are now being canvassed for a vote of no confidence in the NL board. If successful the...

Re: Hampton’s Heroes

I thought the centenary book was to cover the 100 years, wouldn't that be a better seller? Especially for the wider football audience? could also add things in that maybe didn't make it in to the previous book? Not sure where you got that idea from as I have only ever said that it would be a second...

Thank you Rob for your unhelpful suggestion😉can’t say I have ever heard of OCR

Re: Hampton’s Heroes

The book is about the last 20 years so not really covering players from before 2002. I thought the centenary book was to cover the 100 years, wouldn't that be a better seller? Especially for the wider football audience? could also add things in that maybe didn't make it in to the previous book? Not...

Re: News of former players

Dwight was a very talented young player but his elevation to the pro game came after he left Hampton. He was at Wingate & Finchley I believe. Sort of one that got away.
