The Beavers were held to a 1-1 at the Beveree this afternoon by a stubborn Lowestoft side in a bad tempered game which saw numerous yellow cards and interruptions to play, and eventually a sending off for Hampton's Tom Hickey.
Hampton went into this fixture boasting an impressive defensive record, having not conceded in the last seven competitive games. This was soon put to an end as Lowestoft took the lead around the tenth minute.
The Beavers responded well and began to settle into the game, Charlie Moone provided the equaliser just ten minutes later, a 30 yard curler into the top-left corner, after spotting Lowestoft's keeper off of his line.
The Beavers pushed forward and played some impressive football, Gary Holloway came agonisingly close after an overhead kick from inside the area, his shot rebounding from the post and rolling across the goalmouth before being cleared.
The second half saw the football interrupted by a number of bad tackles and questionable decisions by the officials. Niether side was able to take control of the game nor create any significant amount of chances.
Tom Hickey was sent off with just minutes to go after a mistimed challenge with studs showing.
Margate now occupy top spot in the league, level on points with the Beavers. Match Report to follow.
