03/03/12: Chelmsford City 1-0 Beavers
Hampton's relegation battle was made harder after a 1-0 defeat at Melbourne Park, a David Rainford penalty in the 60th minute enough to separate the sides.

Elsewhere in the drop zone club rivals Staines Town were beaten at home by Basingstoke Town and Thurrock, without a win since their trip to the Beveree on 19th November last year, lost at home to Sutton Utd.

Eastbourne Borough's victory in Truro sees the Beavers 7 points from safety with 13 games to go.

The victory keeps Chelmsford safely in the playoff zone which will please the Chelmsord boss, Glenn Pennyfather, who identified the next three matches as "defining moments" for Chelmsford's season.

The match itself was delayed for a number of minutes during play, as the referee had to be replaced by an assistant. After going 1-0 down in the 60th minute, Hampton fought hard and were unfortunate not to equalise after hitting the crossbar.

Our Tuesday evening league match with Salisbury City has been postponed due to our Middlesex Senior Cup Semi-Final at the Beveree against Hendon, which kicks off at 7.45pm on Tuesday.
