Mark Harper's men tonight progressed to the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy in style following a 4-0 victory in poor weather conditions in Hythe, Kent.
A hat trick from Charlie Moone and goal from Malvin Kamara saw the Beavers through, after the club Twitter feed had reported bad weather as the players warmed up shortly before kick-off.
The Beavers will have been frustrated at having to replay this FA Trophy 1st Qualifier from Saturday, after a bright opening 10 minutes at the Beveree. Hythe put in a good display, however, and became just the second side to score against the Beavers this season. The match at Beveree ended in a one all draw after an early second half equaliser from Hampton's Mo Harkin.
Top scorer Charlie Moone recorded his 7th goal of the season in the first half, while Malvin Kamara scored for the second time this season midway through the second. Moone then added to his total with a strike around 10 minutes from time.
Not entirely surprising given recent coverage in the local press, and the narrow margin of some of our victories this season, is the fact that Mark Harper gave a debut to a new striker, Bettamer, who quickly linked up with Charlie Moone and produced some chances after coming on towards the end of the match.
It was one of these chances which led to Charlie Moone's 3rd of the evening and 9th of the season, after link up play between Bray, Bettamer and Moone.
The Beavers will now face Three Bridges at home in the next round on 27th October, less than fifteen days after facing the same side in a reverse fixture in the Isthmian League Cup, on 16th October.
Our scheduled home match with Met. Police on 27th October will now be rearranged for a later date.
